Leonard Fox, Sr.

Mr. Leonard Fox, Sr., age 82, devoted Christian, husband, daddy and ?pa? of 42 Donley Drive, Rome, GA passed away Friday, January 22, 2010 in a Rome Medical Center following a brief illness.

Mr. Fox was born on April 18, 1927 in Jackson County, TN a son of the late Uriah Burton Fox and Essie Cleo Burgess Fox. He moved to Rome from Ft. Payne, AL in 1962 and was employed as a salesman with Colonial Bread Company for 14 years. Mr. Fox was co-owner of Tri Kon Welding Supply Company of Rome until his retirement in 1988. He was a member of the Oak Hill Church of Christ and had served as an Elder of the West Rome Church of Christ and the Oak Hill Church of Christ for a total of 34 years. He was preceded in death by four brothers: Howard, Alfred, Earnest and Boyd Fox.

Survivors include his loving wife of 61 years, Mrs. Rose Fox to whom he was married on April 10, 1948; two daughters: Mrs. Vonda Waters and husband Zack, Rome and Mrs. Vicki Johnson and husband Barry, Huntsville, AL; two sons: Mr. Leonard Fox, Jr. and wife Debbie, Rome and Mr. Jeff Fox and wife Ruth , Nashville, TN; eight grandchildren: Kristen Haynes, Jeff Johnson, Ryan Fox, Luke Waters, Jacob Fox, Jessie Herren, Lauren Waters and Jenna Fox; one great granddaughter, Sadie Kate Haynes; three sisters: Mrs. Helen Robinson, Cookville, TN, Mrs. Anna Carroll, Athens. TN and Mrs. Treva Mundy, Jamestown, TN; five brothers: Mr. Leamon Fox, Bloomington Springs TN, Mr. Bobby Fox, Rome, Mr. Hulon Fox, Bloomington Springs, TN, Mr. Jerry Fox, Cookville, TN, and Mr. Roger Fox, Cookville, TN; a number of nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, January 24, 2010 at 3:00 p.m. in the Oak Hill Church of Christ with Ministers Alvis Miller and Joey Haynes officiating. Interment will follow in Oaknoll Memorial Gardens.

Grandsons will serve as pallbearers and include: Ryan Fox, Luke Waters, Jeff Johnson, Jacob Fox, David Herren and Joey Haynes. Honorary pallbearers will include: Jim White and present and former Elders and Deacons of the Oak Hill Church of Christ.

The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 6 until 9 p.m. at the Oak Hill Church of Christ and Sunday from 1 p.m. until the funeral hour at the church. At other hours they may be contacted at the residence.

In lieu of flowers the family has requested that memorial gifts be made in memory of Mr. Fox to the Oak Hill Church of Christ Building Fund, 1500 Martha Berry Blvd., Rome, GA 30165.

The family wishes to express a special thank you to Dr. Joe Herren, Dr. Frank Stegall and Dr. Dewayne Collier.
