Lewis A. January, Sr.

Mr. Lewis A. January, Sr., age 65, of Rockmart passed away Monday, February 17, 2014 in a Rome medical center following several months of illness.

He was born in Lindale, GA on April 9, 1948 a son of the late Allie January and Bessie Jones January. Mr. January had lived the greater part of his life in Rockmart and was a former employee of Thrall Car of Cartersville. He was a member of the Macland Road Church of Christ. Lewis enjoyed spending time with his family, listening to music and working on old cars.

Survivors include his wife, Martha Conner January of Rockmart to whom he was married on December 4, 1964; a son, Allen January, Houston, Texas; a granddaughter, Allison January, Lawrenceville, GA; two sisters: Syble Eckert, Rockmart and Ann Banther, Chattanooga, TN; two brothers: Robert (Buddy) Autry, Fairmount, GA and Tim January, Marietta, GA; a number of nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held Friday, February 21, 2014 at 12:00 noon in the Chapel of the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Minister Phillip Satterfield officiating. Interment will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers will include: Buddy Autry, Paul Autry, Cesar Papia and John Lamar Garrett.

The family will receive friends Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral hour at the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home.
