Lewis E. Lowe

Mr. Lewis E. Lowe, age 95, of Rome, GA passed away Sunday, April 23, 2017 at his residence.

He was born in Cedartown, GA on January 10, 1922 a son of Andy Lowe and Minnie Locklear Lowe. Mr. Lowe had been a resident of Rome the greater part of his life and was a partner in the Lowes Supermarket of Rome for nearly 40 years. He was a veteran of the United States Navy serving from 1942 until 1946. Mr. Lowe was a pilot who enjoyed flying his apache airplane for many years. He was also a Major with the Civil Air Patrol in Floyd County. Mr. Lowe was a member of the Rome Church of Christ.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Dale Medlin Lowe on September 16, 2014 and by his brothers and sisters.

Survivors include a step son, Larry McCullough, Cleveland, TN; granddaughter, Dana (Tom) Sewell, New York, NY; nieces: Lynda Black, Dalton, Catherine (Gordon) Whittington, Marietta and Pat (Dick) Johnston, Bald Island, NC; nephews: Robert (Nancy) Rea, Oak Island, NC and Mike (Sheryl) Jenkins, Rome.

Graveside funeral and interment services will be held Thursday, April 27, 2107 at 11:00 am in Sunset Hills Memorial Gardens, Rome with his granddaughter, Dana Sewell delivering a eulogy and Minister Steve Rogers officiating. Military honors will be provided by the Honor Guard of Shanklin-Attaway Post 5 of the American Legion.

In lieu of flowers the family has requested that memorial gifts be made to the Alzheimers Association, 41 Perimeter Center, Suite 550 Atlanta, GA 30346 in Mr. Lowes memory.
