Lewis H. Helms

Mr. Lewis H. Helms, age 89, of Rockmart, GA, passed away on Tuesday, March 30, 2021. He was born on October 9, 1931 in Altoona, AL, to his late parents: Sanford and Thelma Thompson Helms. Lewis had resided in Rockmart since 1936 and was a former city clerk and city manager for the city of Rockmart. He also was a member of Rockmart Lodge #97 F. & A.M, where he was a past Master. Lewis had bravely served in the United States Army during the Korean war. In his free time, Mr. Helms enjoyed hunting, fishing and working outdoors. Lewis was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather and friend who will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Mr. Helms owned and operated the Handy Andy convenience store in Rockmart from 1970- 1992.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Lurla Conner.

Mr. Helms is survived by his loving wife, Alma Garrett Helms, daughter, Anna Helms, son, Bobby Helms and his wife, Debra, and 2 grandsons: Clint Helms and his wife, Tabitha and Kody Meeks.

In keeping with the family's wishes, Mr. Helms Graveside Funeral Services were private.
