Linda Abernathy

Mrs. Linda Abernathy, age 79, of Rockmart, GA, passed away Thursday, October 7, 2021.

Mrs. Abernathy was born in Aragon, GA, on October 12, 1941, a daughter of the late James “Buck” Green and the late Lucille Ingle Green. Linda had lived the greater part of her life in Rockmart where she was an active member of Piedmont Avenue Baptist Church. She taught Sunday School at church and was a great spiritual leader for her family and friends. Her family is very thankful for instilling that in their lives. Linda was a great seamstress and enjoyed cross word puzzles and word searches. She loved her family dearly and will be greatly missed by all.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of sixty two years, B.L. Abernathy on March 29, 2019; sister, Connie Cooper; brother, James Green; step-mother, Chiquita Green; and was joined in heaven at the same time by son-in-law, Jocsan Abernathy.

Mrs. Abernathy is survived by her children: Janie Abernathy, Rockmart, Sharon Stephenson, Rockmart, Barbara Burnley and her husband David, Rockmart and Lee Abernathy, Cedartown; grandchildren: Brian Stephenson (Leah), Ashley Morris, Elizabeth Heuer (Josh) and Derek Stephenson; great-grandchildren: Emma Stephenson, Presley Stephenson, Ellis Kate Stephenson and Landon Mitchell; sisters: Nancy Lewis (Marshall), Lawrenceville and Terri Middleton (Jim), Perry; brother, Richard Green; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, October 10, 2021 at 3:00 pm in the chapel of the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Joey Davidson officiating. Interment will follow in Rockmart Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers will include: Brian Stephenson, Derek Stephenson, Josh Heuer, Landon Mitchell, Marc Lewis and David Burnley.

The family will receive friends Sunday afternoon from 1:00 pm until the funeral hour at the funeral home.
