Mrs. Louise Barnette Cornelius, age 74, of Rockmart, GA passed away Friday, January 23, 2015 in an Atlanta Hospital following several months of illness.
She was born on October 6, 1940 in Cartersville Georgia, a daughter of Leonard R. Barnette and Mildred Stamey Barnette. Mrs. Cornelius had lived the greater part of her life in Polk County, was a 1958 graduate of Rockmart High School and was a member of the Hills Creek Baptist Church. She retired from Cartersville Medical Center following nineteen years of service. Mrs. Cornelius loved to make trips to the mountains, especially to Gatlinburg.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald Cornelius in 1984.
Survivors include a daughter, Melinda Watson, Rockmart; a son, Allen Cornelius, Rockmart; five grandchildren: Joshua Watson, Jacob Watson, Alex Cornelius, Jordon Cornelius and Spencer Cornelius; five great granddaughters: Kaylei Watson, Abbie Watson, Emma Watson, Natalie Watson and Hensley Watson; one great grandson, Brayden Turner; a brother, Alvin Barnette and his wife Mary Jane of Cartersville ; a number of nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held Monday, January 26, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with the Rev. Keith Milner officiating. Interment will follow in the Hills Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 6 until 9 p.m. at the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home.
