Mack E. (Ed) Wallace, Jr.

Mr. Mack E. (Ed) Wallace, Jr., age 71, of Centre, AL and formerly of Rockmart passed away Tuesday, February 14, 2012 in Centre, AL.


He was born in Floyd County, GA on March 29, 1940 a son of the late Mack E. Wallace, Sr. and Clyde Kinney Wallace. Mr. Wallace was a former resident of Rockmart and was a retired employee of the Lakewood Assembly Plant of General Motors Corporation. He had made his home in Centre, AL for the past sixteen years and was a former school bus driver for the Cherokee County Alabama School System. Mr. Wallace was preceded in death by his wife, Ellen Holcombe Wallace and by a sister Sherilan Hooper.


Survivors include a daughter Kristi Sanders and her husband Wayne, Aragon; a son, Scottie Wallace and wife, Sandi, Cartersville; step son, Daniel Cash, Buchanan; three grandchildren, two great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.


Funeral services will be held Friday, February 17, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Stevie Waddell officiating and Rev. Gwendall Owens delivering a eulogy. Interment will follow in the New Prospect Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Gary Ingram officiating.


Pallbearers will include: Rollie Dearborn, Danny Taylor, Rodney Sanders, Marty Waddell, Rodney Wolfe and Dan Hand. Honorary pallbearers will include: J.W. Owens, Alton Deems and Jimmy Pritchett.


The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6 until 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
