Mrs. Mamie L. Long, age 100, of Rome, GA passed away Monday, March 23, 2015 at her residence seven days before her 101 st. birthday.
She was born in Bartow County, GA on March 30, 1914 a daughter of the late Robert Lee Herod and Mary Colston Herod. Mrs. Long had lived the greater part of her life in Rome moving to Floyd County in 1939 from Bartow County. She was a member of the Oak Hill Church of Christ. Mrs. Long was preceded in death by her husband, Howard M. Long on February 8, 1983; by two daughters: Maxie Peacock and Barbara Busby; by four brothers: T.L., Charles, Ruben and Earl Herod; by three sisters: Ruth Charles, Faire McDonald and Lula Mae Ball; and by three grandchildren: Steve Bolt , Michael Bolt and Deborah Marshall.
Survivors include two daughters: Joyce Mossinger, Dawsonville, GA and Lucille Harrell, Rome, GA; twelve grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren and a number of great great grandchildren

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 25, 2015 at 3:00 p.m. in the Oak Hill Church of Christ with Ministers Lucian Harris , David Newby and Sven Mossinger officiating. Interment will follow in the East View Cemetery of Adairsville, GA.
Pallbearers will include: Adam Cook, Erick Mossinger, Hans Mossinger, Daniel Bolt, Justin Busby and Lonnie Bowman.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 1:00 p.m. until the funeral hour at the Oak Hill Church of Christ, 1500 Martha Berry Blvd., Rome, GA.
