Mrs. Marie L. Harper, age 76, of Cedartown, GA passed away Monday, March 28, 2016 in a Cedartown nursing center.
She was born in Bartow County, GA on June 19, 1939 a daughter of the late G.H. Lindsey and Emma Gladys Sanford Lindsey. Mrs. Harper had lived the greater part of her life in Polk County and was a member of the New Prospect Baptist Church. She retired from the Rockmart Police Department as a communications officer with over twenty years of service. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a daughter, Karan Sorrells ; by a brother: W.B. (Buddy) Lindsey and by a sister, Edith Fay Landrum.
Survivors include three sons: Donny Sorrells, Ft. Oglethorpe, Scotty Sorrells, Cedartown and BradThomas, Rockmart; two brothers: Paul Lindsey, Rockmart and Terry Lindsey, Tallapoosa; four grandchildren, four great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Thursday, March 31, 2106 in the chapel of the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Michael Edwards officiating. Interment will follow in the Rose Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers will include: Keith Lindsey, Steve Landrum, Roger Landrum, Bobby Helms, Dewayne Lindsey and Glen Sorrells.
The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 7 until 9 p.m. at the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home.
