Marion Olin Holley

Mr. Marion Olin Holley, 76, of Rockmart, GA passed away suddenly Monday, May 8, 2017 at his residence.

He was born in Rockmart, GA on October 11, 1940, a son of the late Adam Hilton Holley, Sr. and the late Rosie Cole Holley.

Olin had lived the greater part of his life in Rockmart where he was a 1959 graduate of Rockmart High School excelling in athletics. He was a veteran of the United States Army where he served as an aircraft mechanic. After leaving the military he worked for Hangar One in the Atlanta area followed by employment with Rome Plow Company and Murata. He loved to farm and for several years operated Holley Hay Farm. He enjoyed gardening, attending auctions, eating out where he could socialize with friends, and spend time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Gail Howell Holley in 1987; his second wife, Diane Holley in 2008; and his brother, Adam H. “Sonny” Holley, Jr. in 2008.

Survivors include his four children: Jonathan Holley and his wife Tammy, Rockmart, Suzanne Payne and her husband Michael, Cedartown, Dawn H. Austin and her husband Jeffrey, Rockmart and Gary Allan Holley and his wife Kerri, Rockmart; 10 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; and his caregiver Christie Gay.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 11, 2017 at 2:00 PM in the chapel of the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Larry Davis officiating. Interment will follow in the Bellview Baptist Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers will include: Michael Worthington, Scott Mears, Alan Dean, Gary Crane, Danny Bailey, Roy Lee Crumley, Kenneth Fuller and Howard “Snowball” Rogers.

The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6 until 9 PM at the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home.

The Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements for the funeral of Mr. Marion Olin Holley.
