Martin Ray Waits

Mr. Martin Ray Waits, age 69, of Newnan, GA, passed away on Thursday, January 27, 2022.

Martin was born on July 31, 1952 in Marietta, GA, to his parents: Elijah Martin Waits and Opal Nell Towe Waits. He spent most of his life in Floyd and Bartow County and the last 23 years in Coweta County. As Ray would say himself, he was a “jack of all trades” and was also self-employed in the tree service industry. Mr. Waits enjoyed fishing, watching WWE Wrestling, NASCAR, music and any and all vehicles. He was Baptist by faith. Mr. Waits was a loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend who will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers:, William Waits, Stanley Waits and Kenneth Waits; and sisters: Judy Elaine Waits, Bonnie Nell and Helen McCamey.

Mr. Waits is survived by his loving children: Eli Waits (Amber), Danny Waits (Amanda) and Pam Lane (Todd); 3 grandchildren: Augusta Waits, Abby Cate Waits, and David Flowers, and sister, Marie Waits Fowler Edmondson, Taylorsville; half sister, Sheila Ann Waits, Rome; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services for Mr. Waits will be held on Tuesday, February 1, 2022 at 3:00 PM in The Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Colt Deems officiating and a eulogy given by his son, Eli Waits. Interment will follow the service at Zion Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, February 1, 2022 from 12:00 PM until the service hour.
