Mary Baird

Mrs. Mary Ruth Camp Baird, age 94, of 114 Teat Street Lindale, GA passed away Friday, October 4, 2013.


She was born in Rockmart, GA on May 6, 1919 a daughter of the late Luther Sylvester Camp and Ophia Myrtle Drew Camp. Mrs. Baird had lived most of her life in Lindale and was a former employee of the Floyd County Equalization Board. She was a veteran of World War II serving in the United States Navy as a parachute rigger at the Naval Air Station in Atlanta. Mrs. Baird was a member of the Oak Hill Church of Christ.


In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn T. (Pete) Baird on November 20, 2002 and by a sister, Evelyn Barton and a brother, Robert Camp.


Survivors include a daughter, Elaine Grubb and her husband David, Cumming, GA; three sons: Michael F. Baird and wife Marian, Silver Creek, Timothy R. Baird, Kingston and John M. Baird, Rome; fifteen grandchildren and twenty great grandchildren.


Funeral services will be held Monday, October 7, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. in the Oak Hill Church of Christ with David and Drew Grubbs officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Hills Memorial Gardens.


Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.


The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 7 until 9 p.m. at the Oak Hill Church of Christ, 1500 Martha Berry Blvd., Rome.
