Mary Jane Chandler

Mrs. Mary Jane Chandler, age 81, of Rockmart, GA, passed away Monday morning, March 10, 2025.

Mrs. Chandler was born in Gadsden, AL, on May 15, 1943, a daughter of the late DeWitt Holland and Pauline Smith Holland. She had lived the greater part of her life in Rockmart and was of the Baptist faith. Prior to retirement, Mrs. Chandler worked with Prince Street Carpet Mill, and after retirement, enjoyed her time working at the local Daycare. She enjoyed eating at Bar-L-Barbecue and Sidekicks, was always up for a trip to local estate sales and enjoyed her visits to the Senior Center. Mrs. Chandler loved her grandchildren and cherished her time with them.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Chandler was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Sunny Pinkard, and thirteen siblings.

Mrs. Chandler is survived by her husband, John Howard, “Johnny” Chandler, whom she married on December 31, 1980; children, Lynn Duke, Jim “Sonny” (Angie) Pinkard, David (Rhonda) Pinkard, and Tracey (David) Duke; siblings, Agnes White, Fleda Robertson, Shirley Gaston, David Mitchell, and Donald Mitchell. Ten grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren along with numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services for Mrs. Chandler will be held on Friday, March 14, 2025, at 12:00 noon in the chapel of Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Pastor Sonny Pinkard officiating. Interment will follow in Aragon Cemetery.

Mrs. Chandler’s family will receive friends Friday morning from 10:00 a.m. until the service hour.

Pallbearers will include Fender Anderson, Gibson Anderson, Luke Pinkard, Luke Shaw, Cole Duke, Alan Pinkard, Graeson Hunter, and Wade Crider.
