Mary Dunn

Mrs. Mary Vinnie Shepard Dunn, age 79, of 284 McBride Road, Rockmart passed away Sunday, June 29, 2008 at her residence following several months of declining health.

She was born in Paulding County, GA on January 15, 1929 a daughter of the late James Alfred Shepard and Vida Ione Tant Shepard. Mrs. Dunn had lived the greater part of her life in the Rockmart area where she was a member of the Fairview Baptist Church. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Augustus Eugene (Gene) Dunn on September 23, 1986; by five brothers: Doyle, Amos, Ernest, Walter and Ivey Shepard; and by three sisters: Mae Akins, Stella Holland and Mattie Lee.

Survivors include four daughters: Mrs. Marilyn Edwards, Mrs. Edna Haney, Mrs. Joyce Williams and Mrs. Janice Stephenson all of Rockmart; four sons: Mr. Alfred Dunn, Youngstown, FL, Mr. Eddie Dunn, Mr. Larry Dunn and Mr. Jerry Dunn all of Rockmart; one sister, Mrs. Kate Watts, Rockmart; 34 grandchildren ; 32 great grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. in the Fairview Baptist Church with Revs. Larry Ritch, Robert Anderson, Larry Davis and Tony Weaver officiating. Interment will follow in Rockmart Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers will include: Kevin Dunn, Wayne Dunn, Paul Dunn, Junior Bollen, Michael Haney, Ty Caldwell, Jan Cannon and Bobby Waldrop.

The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
