Mary Frances Richards

Mrs. Mary Frances Richards, age 86, of Cartersville, GA, passed away Thursday morning, May 11, 2023.

Mrs. Richards was born in Polk County, GA, a daughter of the late John Ed Carlton, Sr., and Eula Deems Carlton. She had lived the greater part of her life in Bartow County and attended Atco Baptist Church. Mrs. Richards retired from Benchmark Carpets following several years of service. She enjoyed arts and crafts, loved to cook, and was always collecting antiques. Mrs. Richards loved her cats, loved her family, and always sent birthday cards to her nieces and nephews. She was the glue for all her family.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Richards was preceded in death by her husband, George H. Richards, sister, Dixie Jefferson, brother, Eddie Carlton, brothers-in-law, Bud Jefferson, Melvin Roberts, and Donald Motes, sister-in-law, Roni Abernathy, and niece, Lynn Couch.

Mrs. Richards is survived by sisters, Jeanette Motes, Jo Roberts; brother, Kenneth (Diane) Carlton. Ten nieces and nephews, along with numerous great and great-great nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services for Mrs. Richards will be Saturday afternoon, May 13, 2023, at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of Alvis Miller & Son Funeral home with Rev. Danny Tucker officiating. Eulogies will be provided by the family. Interment will be Monday at 4:00 p.m. in Sunset Memory Gardens of Cartersville.

Mrs. Richards’ family will receive friends at Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home on Saturday afternoon from 2:00 p.m. until the funeral hour.

Pallbearers will include Tim Maulding, Nevin Sims, Adron Jefferson, Payton Carter, Kyle Carlton, Jeff Barker, and Greg Adcock.
