Mary Jane Barnette

Mrs. Mary Jane Barnette, age 76, of Cartersville, GA passed away Sunday, December 6, 2020.

Mrs. Barnette was born in Kingston, GA on May 18, 1944, a daughter of the late Doyle Pressley and the late Hazel Pell Pressley. She had made Bartow County home since 1966 and was a member of the Oak Hill Baptist Church. When she was younger, she enjoyed playing basketball, softball, and bowling.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Bobby Pressley; and two sisters: Ann Pressley and Nell Pressley.

Survivors include her husband of fifty eight years, Alvin Barnette of Cartersville, to whom she was married on June 16, 1962; two daughters: Donna Johnson and her husband, James, Adairsville and Kathy Swinney and her husband Byron, Cohutta, GA; six grandchildren: Amber Barber (David), Chris Cline (Tiffany), Jeremy Cline (Danielle), Kody Swinney, Samantha Leonardson (David), and Amber Johnson; nine great-grandchildren; a number of nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 10, 2020 at 12 noon in the chapel of the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Gene Powell officiating. Interment will follow in Providence Cemetery, Cartersville.

Pallbearers will include: Chris Cline, Jeremy Cline, Kody Swinney, James Johnson, Bryce Cline, Nicolas Wallin, and Byron Swinney.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 11:00 am until the funeral hour at the funeral home. Social distancing guidelines will be followed and masks are required.
