Mary L. Mcrae

Mrs. Mary L. McRae, age 81, of Oakcrest Drive, Rockmart passed away Monday, April 4, 2011.


She was born in Polk County, GA on January 20, 1930 a daughter of the late George Howard Lane, Sr. and Frances Chidsey Lane. Mrs. McRae lived for a number of years in Rome, GA and Birmingham, AL before returning to Rockmart in 1970. She was a graduate of Wesleyan College, Macon, GA and West Georgia College, Carrollton, GA. Mrs. McRae was an educator having taught school for twenty years.


In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 19 years, Gene McRae;by a son, Rusty McRae, a sister JoAnn Lane and two brothers: Jim Lane and Howard Lane.


Survivors include five children: Lane McRae, Rockmart, Russell McRae and wife Ruth, Taylorsville, Frances McRae, Rockmart, Leigh Cagle and husband Mike, Cartersville and Scott McRae and companion Scott Vincent, New Orleans, LA; four grandchildren; one great grandchild and special companion, Karl Vancil, Rockmart.


Memorial services will be held Friday, April 8, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. in the First United Methodist Church of Rockmart with Rev. Jeanette Dickens and Rev. David Autry officiating.


The family will gather in the Fellowship Hall of the First United Methodist Church following the memorial service.


In lieu of flowers the family has requested that memorial be made to the First United Methodist Church Choir.


The Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements for the memorial service of Mrs. Mary L. McRae.
