Mary Lorene Bishop Bright

Mrs. Mary Lorene Bishop Bright, age 91, of Rockmart, GA passed away Tuesday, May 21, 2019 at her residence.

She was born in Rockmart, GA on July 27, 1927; a daughter of the late Joseph W. Bishop and the late Netlie Barrett Bishop. Mrs. Bright had lived the greater part of her life in Polk County and had lived at the same location since 1963. Mrs. Bright was a former employee of Goodyear Mill and was a faithful member of New Prospect Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Bright; brother, Franklin Bishop; a sister, Lucille Bishop; two sons, David Bright and Timothy Wayne Bright; a daughter, Joanie Forrister; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Survivors include two sons: Joseph Hubert Bright of Chatsworth and Johnny Stephen Bright of Dallas; four daughters: Mary Ann Lyles of Covington, Willie Elizabeth Ward of Cedartown; Martha Joyce Garcia of Dallas, TX and Rebecca "Lucy" Gomez of Dallas, TX; 31 grandchildren, 74 great-grandchildren and 16 great-great-grandchildren; and one sister: Joanne B. White of Rockmart. A number of nieces and nephews also survive.

Graveside funeral and interment service will be held Thursday, May 23, 2019 at 4:00 PM in the Wimberly Hill Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Jason Purser officiating.

The family will receive friends from 2:30 PM to 3:30 PM prior to the service at the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home.

The family has respectfully requested that flowers be omitted and memorial donations be made to New Prospect Baptist Church.
