Mary Witt Forrister

Mrs. Mary Witt Forrister, age 86, of Rockmart, GA passed away Monday, December 16, 2019.

She was born in the Collard Valley area of Polk County, GA on December 25, 1932 a daughter of the late Herman Winston Witt and Pluma Mae Horn Witt. Mrs. Forrister had lived all of her life in Polk County where she was a member of the Rockmart Church of Christ. She enjoyed cooking, sewing and spending time with her family especially her grandchildren.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Alton F. Forrister; a son, Mark Forrister; brother, Paul Witt; and four sisters: Ruby Wilkerson, Lois Varnum, Annie Ruth Smith and Jessie Mae Harris.

Survivors include two daughters: Deborah (Jim) McClure, Taylorsville and Donna Jones, Opelika, AL; son, Scott (Nolie) Forrister, Rockmart; two sisters: Geneva Forrister, Cedartown and Pauline Cochran, Ellijay; eight grandchildren, twenty two great grandchildren; seven great great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Graveside funeral and interment services will be held Saturday, December 21, 2019 at 2:30 pm in Polk Memory Gardens with Minister Justin Mason officiating.

Pallbearers will include: Casey Forrister, Chris McClure, Tim Morris, D.W. Graham, Kyle Forrister and Robert Goodahl. Daniel Dennett and Phil Harris will serve as Honorary Pallbearers.

The family will receive friends Saturday from 12 noon until 2:00 pm at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers the family has requested that memorial gifts be made in Mrs. Forristers memory to Raintree Village Childrens Home, 3757 Johnston Rd., Valdosta, GA 31601-9974
