Mattie Elizabeth Jackson

December 19, 1915 — November 4, 2012

Mrs. Mattie Childers Jackson, loving mother and grandmother passed away peacefully in her home on November 4, 2012 surrounded by her family.

She was born December 19, 1915 a daughter of the late Clemons and Willie Burnley Childers. Mrs. Jackson had lived her entire life in and around Aragon and was a member of the Piedmont Avenue Baptist Church. The greatest joys in her life were her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Also, she had many children in Aragon that she became their Maw Maw. She will be missed by her family and many many others.

She was preceded in death by her husband Martin ?Bally? Jackson on February 13, 1971; by three sons: Barron Jackson, James Jackson and Wayne Jackson; three grandsons: Eddie Jackson, Tyler Jackson and Chuck Jackson and one great grandson, Brett Jackson.

Survivors include a daughter, Glenda Cannon and husband Freddie, Lilburn, GA; three sons: Ed Jackson and wife Patricia, Aragon , Charles Jackson, Orchard Hill, GA and Gary Jackson and wife Lynn, Aragon. Numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 6, 2012 at 3:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Archie Streetman and Rev. Edward Streetman officiating. Interment will follow in the New Prospect Baptist Church Cemetery.

Grandsons serving as pallbearers will include: Wayne Jr. Jackson, Chad Tucker, Jessie Jackson, Travis Jackson, Adam Jackson, Wesley Freeman, Cody Jackson and Dustin Freeman.

The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6 until 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

The Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements for the funeral of Mrs. Mattie Elizabeth Jackson.
