Melvin Lee Maxwell

Melvin Lee Maxwell, age 83, of Mableton passed away April 23, 2019.

Melvin was a graduate of Rockmart High School and retired from the United States Postal Service. While serving his country in the Air Force, Melvin was stationed outside of Lincoln, England, where he met the love of his life, Sheila. The two were married in November of 1959.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Eugene and Carrie Maxwell; and siblings, Mildred Lanier, Betty Knight, Joy Garrett, and Chestly Maxwell.

Melvin is survived by his wife of 60 years, Sheila Maxwell; son, Darrell Lee (Melva) Maxwell of Acworth; grandchild, Shane (Julie) Maxwell of Rockmart; great-grandchildren, Alia, Gage, Lailee, Rylyn, and Kaily; siblings, Marjorie Bowman of Rockmart, Deborah Pace, and Arthur Garrett of Rockmart; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Friday, April 26th, 1:00 PM at Davis-Struempf Chapel. Interment will follow the service at Mt. Harmony Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends before the service from 11:00 to 1:00 PM.
