Myrtle L. Garrett

Mrs. Myrtle L. Garrett, age 92, of Rockmart, GA passed away Friday evening, March 7, 2025.

She was born in Rockmart on April 23, 1932, a daughter of the late Grady Virgil Lee, Sr. and Sara Hovers Lee. Mrs. Garrett had lived the greater part of her life in Rockmart and retired from Goodyear. She was a caretaker of the family and had a heart of love for everyone. Mrs. Garrett was an avid collector of dolls and had a love for cooking. She was of the Baptist faith.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Tony M. Garrett; sons, Lee Garrett, Leonard Garrett, and Larry Garrett; daughter, Patty Ballard; brothers, John Willie Lee, Grady Virgil Lee, Jr., Homer Franklin Lee, and William P. “Billy” Lee; sisters, Lelia Garrett, Laura Davidson, Nellie Williams, Catherine Gaddy, and Annette Davidson; grandson, Bryan Dunwoody; and great-grandson, Rylen Johnson.

Mrs. Garrett is survived by her daughter, Sherry (Sam) Dunwoody; sons, Denny Wayne Garrett and David (Vickie) Garrett; ten grandchildren, Jimmy Garrett, Jr. Aimee Brown, Chad Garrett, Devonna Johnson, Shannon Garrett, Christopher Wright, David Wright, Ashley Pace, Amanda Lanier, and Ben Dunwoody; eighteen great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Friday, March 14, 2025 at 2:00 pm in the chapel of Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Eddie Davidson and Bro. Jimmy Davidson officiating. Interment will follow in the Morning View Baptist Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers will include Landen Johnson, Christopher Wright, David Wright, Ben Dunwoody, Griffin Pace, and Garrett Pace.

The family will receive friends Thursday evening, March 13, 2025 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at the funeral home.
