Mrs. Myrtle Virginia Gore, age 81, of Wingfoot Street Rockmart passed away Thursday, January 20, 2011 in a Rome Medical Center following several months of declining health.
She was born in Floyd County, GA on January 19, 1930 a daughter of the late Lebron Lester Pope and Lois Carver Pope. Mrs. Gore had lived the greater part of her life in Rockmart where she was a member of the Piedmont Avenue Baptist Church and a retired employee of the Goodyear Mill. She was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Sharon Gore on April 24, 1995 and by ten brothers and sisters.
Mrs. Gore is survived by her son, Mr. Samuel S. (Sam) Gore and daughter in law, Lynn of Rockmart; three grandchildren: Jody and Tony Sanderson of Calhoun ,Ty Gore and Kelley of Cedartown and Elizabeth and Stephen Anderson of Rockmart; six great grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Katie Mae Davenport, Rome; a special friend, Mrs. Kathy Gaston, Rome.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, January 23, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. in the Piedmont Avenue Baptist Church with Rev. John Hooper and Rev. Burch Fannin, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in Polk Memory Gardens.
Pallbearers will include: Joe Henderson, Ollie Gaston, Tommy Pinkard, Joe Parham, Greg Hughes, Danny Harris and Bill Willis. Honorary pallbearer, Jerry Chambers.
The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
