Nancy Akins Sanders Holliday

Mrs. Nancy Akins Sanders Holliday, age 66, of Rockmart, GA passed away Sunday, March 16, 2014 in a Rome medical center following several months of illness.

She was born in Aragon, GA on October 10, 1947, a daughter of the late Arthur Doyl (Tom) Akins and Minnie Lee Godfrey Akins. Mrs. Holliday had lived all of her life in Polk County where she was a homemaker. She was of the Baptist faith and loved to spend time with her daughter and granddaughter. One of her favorite hobbies was to shop yard sales. In addition to her parents, Nancy was preceded in death by her brother, Billy Akins and her former husband, James Sanders.

Survivors include her husband, Harry Neal Holliday of Rockmart, to whom she was married on October 20, 1991; daughter, Jessica Gwen Sanders Watkins, Rockmart; granddaughter, Braylee Grace Watkins, Rockmart; sister, Brenda Akins, Rockmart; and her brother, Tommy Akins, Rockmart.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 19, 2014 at 3:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Bro. C.E. Estes officiating. Interment will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers will include: Rita Martin, Mike Haney, Starling Powell, Howard Powell, Edward Akins and Scotty Hancock. Larry Haney will serve and an honorary pallbearer.

The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 7 until 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
