Nancy Daugherty

Mrs. Nancy Daugherty, age 70, of Cedartown, passed away Tuesday, October 18, 2011 in a Rome medical center following a brief illness.


She was born in Gadsden, Alabama on August 18, 1941, daughter of the late Thelma Ford Bates and Don J. Bates. Mrs. Daugherty had been a resident of Cedartown the greater part of her life where she was a graduate of Cedartown High School. She received her para legal degree in Atlanta, GA before beginning her career with the Gammon and Anderson Law Firm where she was employed for over forty years. In 1996 she purchased the Merle Norman Cosmetic Studio in Cedartown which she operated for a period of five years. She returned to Gammon and Anderson on a part time basis in 2000. Mrs. Daugherty was a very active member of the Cedartown Church of Christ and had been involved in the Cedartown community having served on the Boards of the Cedartown Performing Arts Center, the Cedartown Historical Society and the Polk County Chamber of Commerce.


Survivors include her husband, Ronald Daugherty of Cedartown, to whom she was married on August 30, 1959; daughter, Donna Nebel and her husband Karl of Cedartown; four grandchildren: Missy Garcia, Dr. Christopher Nebel, Laura Ray and Andrea Nebel; four great grandchildren, Ethan Garcia, Jonas Nebel, Susannah Nebel and Abigail Nebel.


Funeral services will be held Friday, October 21, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. in the Cedartown Church of Christ with Ministers Ed Lee, Steven Mercer, James Nelson and Alvis Miller officiating. Interment will follow in Polk Memory Gardens.

Men of the Cedartown Church of Christ will serve as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral hour at the Cedartown Church of Christ and at other hours may be contacted at the residence of Karl and Donna Nebel, 81 Meadow Lakes Drive, Cedartown, GA 30125.


In lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be made to the Cedartown Church of Christ, 326 E. Avenue, Cedartown, GA 30125.
