Nina Sue Gowens

Ms. Nina Sue Gowens, age 66, of Taylorsville, passed away on Saturday, January 28, 2023. She was born on October 9, 1956. A daughter of the late HP Simpson and the late Norma James Simpson. Nina worked for Wal-Mart as a store associate. Ms. Gowens was a military wife and traveled all over the United States and moved back to Georgia in 2018. Ms. Gowens was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend who will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Royce Simpson.

Nina is survived by her loving children: Michelle (Willie) Barkley of Taylorsville, GA, Robert (Dana) Gowens of Long Beach, MS and Hunter (Alicia) Gowens of Milton, FL; seven grandchildren, one great-grandchild; sister, Zella Fleming of Rockmart, GA; brother, James Simpson of Cedartown, GA, and several nieces and nephews also survive.

In keeping with her wishes, Nina will be cremated, and the family will gather for a visitation for family and friends on Saturday, March 4, 2023 at Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM. This will provide an opportunity to celebrate Nina's life by sharing stories and memories with one another.
