Olivia Dunn Smith

Mrs. Olivia Dunn Smith, age 78, of Rome, GA and formerly of Rockmart, passed away Friday, August 16, 2024.

Olivia was born in Jacksonville, FL on October 11, 1945, a daughter of the late Dan Thompson and Ollie Mae Anderson Thompson. She had been a resident of Rockmart for the greater part of her life before moving to Rome where she has lived for the past twenty-four years. Olivia was a faithful member of the Morning View Baptist Church. She loved taking care of others and enjoyed sending sympathy and get-well cards to those in need. Olivia enjoyed the time she was able to ride in her 1956 Chevrolet Bel Air. She retired from the Floyd County School System as well as Riverwood Assisted Living where she served as a caregiver. 

In addition to her parents, Olivia was preceded in death by her husband, Dewayne Dunn; and a grandson, Nathan Dunn.

Olivia is survived by her children, Lisa Dunn (Sascha Quintanilla), Jonathan Dunn, Dan Dunn (Rebecka), and Thomas Dunn; eleven grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; sister, Lynn Thomas; brother, Danny Thompson; several nieces and nephews; and her puppy, Buddy.

Funeral services for Olivia will be held Sunday afternoon, August 18, 2024 at 4:00 pm at Morning View Baptist Church with Rev. Jeff Hulsey and Rev. Robert Wright officiating. Interment will follow in Rockmart Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers will include Michael Bagley, Greg Rainey, Danny Dunn, Chris Bailey, Junior Bollen, and Steven Swift. Honorary pallbearers will include Jesse West and Keith Crowley.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 12:30 pm until 3:30 pm at Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home.
