Otis Sigers

Mr. Otis Eugene Sigers, Sr., age 90, of Rockmart, GA passed away Sunday, October 20, 2013 in a Rome hospital.

He was born in Pine Log, GA on July 29, 1923, a son of the late Doss Frank and Estelle Payne Sigers. Mr. Sigers had lived the greater part of his life in Rockmart and was a former employee of Colonial Grocery and Marquette Cement Company. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving from 1943 until 1946. Mr. Sigers was a master gardener known for his bountiful growing of collard greens and turnips. He also loved to work in his yard cutting his own grass. Mr. Sigers was of the Christian faith.

He was preceded in death by two sisters: Maxine Sigers Clanton and Mary Lou Sigers Ferguson; three brothers: Frank Sigers, Dewey Deone Sigers and D.F. Sigers.

Survivors include his wife, Joyce Hayes Sigers of Rockmart to whom he was married November 5, 1949; daughter and son-in-law, Heather and Danny Thomas of Cedartown; son and daughter-in-law, Eugene and Vickie Sigers of Rockmart; son, Michael Sigers of Rockmart and daughter Shirley Sigers of Rockmart; brother, Everett Sigers, Edgefield, SC; grandchildren: Allison and Martin Jimenez, Cedartown; Chad and Katrina Thomas, Tallapoosa; Kristen and Andre Rivier, Suva Fiji; Amberly and Matt Elrod, Rockmart; great grandchildren: Paige Morgan, Ahren Thomas, Britt Morgan, Hannah Rivier, Emme Grace Elrod, Claire Rivier, Adysan Thomas, Ava Jimenez and Elee Ana Elrod; a number of nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held Tuesdsay, October 22, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Billy Fricks and Rev. Danny Dunn officiating. Interment will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers will include: Chad Thomas, Britt Morgan, Matt Elrod, Martin Jimenez, Russell Segers and Kirt Sproull. Honorary pallbearers will include: Larry Bolt, Jimmy Williams, Rachel Roper and Skip Sproull.

The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home.
