Patricia H. Garrett

Mrs. Patricia H. Garrett, age 71, of Rockmart, GA passed away Sunday, July 6, 2014 at her residence.

She was born in Paulding County, GA on July 13, 1942 a daughter of Benjamin Ralph Hughes and Ruth Hulsey Hughes. Mrs. Garrett had lived most of her life in Rockmart where she was a graduate of Rockmart High School and was a former employee of the Goodyear Mill retiring in 1988 with thirty years of service. She was of the Baptist faith. Mrs. Garrett was a former volunteer with the Civil Defense, the Polk County Fire Department (Aragon Unit) and had been a CPR Instructor and First Aid Instructor. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Douglas L. Garrett on August 28, 2008, by a grandson, Robert Douglas White and by a brother, Henry Hughes.

Survivors include a special daughter and caregiver, Kelly Garrett; son and daughter in law, Andy and Aleta Garrett; granddaughter, Savannah Bragg; granddaughter Nikki Tolbert and husband Brandon; grandson, Andrew Garrett; grandson Ben Jones and wife Amber; great granddaughters, Grace Tolbert and Adley Jones; two great grandsons: Brantly Payne and Charlie Smith; special cousins: Mike and Linda Connell; cousin raised as a brother, Terry Womack and wife Evelyn; sister in law: Elaine Hughes; daughter, Vicky Johnson and husband Mike; grandchildren: Amber Garrison and husband Bo, Stormy Burnley and husband James and Tiffany Garrett; great grandchildren: Micheala Johnson, Holly Little, Caity, Cenzie, Cambree and Caylee Garrison; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 8, 2014 at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Brother Jack Goss officiating and eulogies given by Barry Cole, Nikki Tolbert and Carla Flippo. Interment will follow in the Bellview Baptist Church Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will include: Mark Hughes, Brian Moon, Bo Garrison, Danny Hulsey, Mike Brinkley and Wayne Price. Honorary pallbearers will include: Robert and Carla Flippo, Mary Lee, David Patrick, Wanda Cole, Dennis and Annette Hulsey, Terry and Evelyn Womack, Candy Moore, Amanda Brinkley, Vivian Pierce and Mike and Linda Connell.

The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6 until 9 p.m. at the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home.
