Peggie Patterson Watwood

Mrs. Peggie Patterson Watwood, age 77, of Rome, GA, passed away Saturday morning, March 30, 2024, in a Rome hospital.

Peggie was born in Rockmart, GA, on July 18, 1946, a daughter of the late Earl Sanders, Jr., and the former Evelyn Waters.   She had lived in Statham, GA for 33 years before moving back to Polk County and Floyd County for the past 20 years where she was a member of Morning View Baptist Church.  Peggie was a housewife and homemaker who loved taking care of her dog, Zoey.  She cherished her time with family, including her brothers and sisters, but especially her grandchildren and husband, Jerry.

Peggie was preceded in death by her father, Earl Sanders, Jr.; mother, Evelyn Camp; step-father, Rena Camp; brother, Wayne Sanders; daughter, Melissa Hall; sons, Billy Carroll, Chris Patterson, and Timmy Patterson; daughter-in-law, Gayle Carroll.

Peggie is survived by her husband, Jerry Watwood, whom she married February 27, 2009; four children, Calvin Carroll, Scarlett (Les) Bruce, Scott (Marsha) Carroll, Don (Cindy) Patterson; eight grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Patricia (Gary) Ingram, Linda (Tim) Wheeler, Brenda (Odell) McAlister, and Dottie (Jerry Deangelo) Shelton; brother Ralph “Bud” (Patty) Sanders.

Funeral services for Peggie will be held on Tuesday afternoon, April 2, 2024, at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Gary Ingram and Rev. Jeff Hulsey officiating.  Interment will follow in Rockmart Memorial Gardens.

Peggie’s family will receive friends at Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home Tuesday from 1:00 p.m. until the service hour.

Pallbearers will include Dennis Shelton, Rodney Sanders, Joe Carroll, John Bruce, Jesse Hicks and Ashley Carroll.  Honorary pallbearers will include Craig Blair, Wade Blair, Michael Shelton and Jason Carroll.
