Peggy Dianne Burell

Ms Peggy Dianne Burell, age 67, of 240 McBride Road Rockmart passed away Sunday, January 18, 2009 at her residence following several years of declining health.


She was born in Polk County, GA on September 9, 1941 a daughter of the late Clifford Owen Burell and Ethel Lucinda Wix Burell. Ms Burell had lived the greater part of her life in Polk County where she was a member of the Fairview Baptist Church and Chapter 321 of the Eastern Star. She was a former employee of the Polk County Sheriffs Department and retired in 1989 as a result of ill health from the Rockmart Police Department where she had been employed as a dispatcher. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Mr. Dewayne Hunt in July of 1969 ; by a brother, Owen Burell and by three sisters: Velma Burell, Louise Shepard and Earline Lee.


Survivors include a sister in law, Mrs. Carolyn Burell, Rockmart; a brother in law, Mr. Gerald Lee, Cedartown; two nephews; four nieces and a number of great nieces and great nephews.


Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 20, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. in the Fairview Baptist Church with Dr. Tony Weaver, Rev. Larry Ritch and Dr. Larry Davis officiating. A great nephew, Adam Elrod will deliver a eulogy. Interment will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will include: Andy Elrod, Jerry Dunn, Jeff Ellis, Terry Barber, Perry Williams, Steve Brumbelow and Scott Carter. Honorary pallbearers will include: Sadie Pittman, Betty Moss, Debbie Carter, Nancy Richards and Peg?s kids.


The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
