Ralph Deems

Mr. Ralph Deems, age 85, of Rockmart, passed away Monday, October 17, 2011.


He was born on July 29, 1926 in Polk County, GA and had lived here all of his life. Mr. Deems was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church and was last employed by the Pepperell Mill of Lindale, GA. He was preceded in death by his wife Paula Allen Deems and by his first wife Clara Mae Deems ; by a son, Sonny Ray Deems and a daughter, Patricia Ann Burnley.


Survivors include five daughters: Judy Sisson, Silver Creek, Angelia Chapman, Rome, Betty Brinkley, Rockmart, Ashley Deems, Aragon and Jessica Hope Deems, Aragon; eight sons: Evangelist Jerry Deems, Aragon, Tommy Deems, Rockmart, Billy Deems, Aragon, Evangelist Paul Deems, Sr., Rockmart, Tony Deems, Rockmart, Justin Deems, Rockmart, Jason Deems, Rockmart and Travis Deems, Aragon; three sisters: Willie Mae Ely, Seney, Annie Dale Ely, Silver Creek and Mabel Ely, Rome; 24 grandchildren and 30 great grandchildren also survive.


Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 19, 2011 at 3:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Evangelist Jerry Deems ,Rev. Jeff Bennett and Rev. Tim Patnode officiating. Interment will follow in the Oak Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery.


Pallbearers will include: Ricky Baines, Billy Joe Deems, Jr., Paul Deems, Sr., Paul Deems, Jr., Jim Waddell and Brandon Deems.


The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 7 until 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
