Ralph Edward Brannon

June 23, 1946 — October 3, 2013

Mr. Ralph Edward Brannon, age 67, of Aragon, GA passed away Thursday, October 3, 2013 in a Rome medical center following a brief illness.


He was born in Paulding County, GA on June 23, 1946 a son of the late Ulysses Rich Brannon and Beulah Silvers Brannon. Mr. Brannon had lived most of his life in Polk County and was a graduate of Rockmart High School. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army having served in Vietnam. He was a member of the Euharlee Baptist Church and had been a Sunday School teacher at VanWert Baptist Church and New Hope Baptist Church. He was a forty year employee of the Georgia Power Company retiring in 2006. Some of his hobbies included fishing and whittling. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a daughter, Mikki Brannon and six brothers and sisters.


Survivors include his wife of twenty years, Martha Brannon, Aragon; four sons: Shane Brannon and his wife Sandy, Rockmart, Chris Fuqua and his wife Nadine, Cedartown, Chad Fuqua and his wife Amber, Rockmart and Steven Cody Brannon, Aragon; four sisters: Evelyn Hudson, Gadsden, AL, Mary Opal Hawkins, Cedartown, Juanita Moody, Rockmart and Nancy Perkins,Rockmart; seven grandchildren; five great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.


Funeral services will be held Sunday, October 6, 2013 at 3:00 p.m. in the Euharlee Baptist Church with Rev. Stephen Moore and Cody Brannon officiating. Interment will follow in the Oak Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery with the Honor Guard of Brown-Wright Post # 12 of the American Legion in charge of military graveside rites.


Active pallbearers will include: Alex Brannon, Alvin Mallicoat, Alan Williams, Alvin Williams, Billy Greeson, and Joe Garmon. Honorary pallbearers will include: Cody Bales, Jimmy Waldrop, Arnold Grant, Marvin Grant, Gene Barber, Chris Fuqua, Chad Fuqua, Pete Chastain and Jackie Edwards.


The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 5 until 9 p.m. at the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home.
