Ralph Kinnick

January 15, 1930 — February 2, 2016

Mr. Ralph H. Kinnick, age 86, of Rockmart (the Yorkville community) passed away Tuesday, February 2, 2016 in Kennestone Hospital, Marietta.

He was born in Witt County, Tennessee on January 15, 1930, a son of Riley Mack Kinnick and Iva Anderson Kinnick. Mr. Kinnick had been a resident of the Rockmart area since 1975 moving here from the St. Petersburg, FL area where he had made his home for seventeen years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corp and the U.S. Navy having served on the USS Theodore Roosevelt. Mr. Kinnick was employed as an air traffic controller for thirty eight years working in the St. Pete -Clearwater Tower. He loved to golf, fish and study his Bible. He was an ordained minister having received his masters degree in theology. Mr. Kinnick worshiped with the Cedar Lake Christian Church in Cedartown for a number of years and was presently worshiping with the Full Turn Church- Yorkville Campus. His greatest love was for the Lord and his mission work had taken him to Japan, Peru, Ecuador and Mexico.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Mary South and a brother, James Kinnick.

Survivors include his wife of sixty years, Leona Clark Kinnick, Rockmart to whom he was married on November 12, 1955; daughter, Kathy Lowery and husband Tommy, Rockmart; son, William (Bill) Kinnick, Rockmart; brother, John Kinnick and wife, Annette, Alpharetta; seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, February 7, 2016 at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Pastor Garrett Cole officiating. Entombment will follow in Polk Memory Gardens with Brown-Wright Post # 12 of the American Legion in charge of military rites.

Pallbearers will include: Christopher Kinnick, Johnny Klaus, Jeremy Astuto, Matthew Marisko, Michael Astuto and Wesley Dillard.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers the family has requested that memorial gifts be made to the Cedar Lake Christian Church, 1890 Rome Highway Cedartown, GA 30120 or to Full Turn Church-Yorkville Campus, 53 Golden S. PL. Dallas, GA 30157 in Mr. Kinnicks' memory.

The Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements for the funeral of Mr. Ralph H. Kinnick.
