Mr. Ravon Deems, age 78, of Aragon, GA passed away Thursday, December 28, 2017 in a Rome medical center.
He was born in Taylorsville, GA on March 13, 1939 a son of the late Willard Deems and the late Annie Mae Cochran Deems. Ravon had lived all of his life in the Bartow and Polk County area. He retired from the General Motors Lakewood Assembly Plant with twenty five years of service. Following his retirement from GM he worked for several years at Belks in Rome, GA. He was a member of the Second Baptist Church of Rockmart. Ravon loved to watch sports on TV, trade cars and decorate his home.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Ann Goss Deems on July 11, 2011; by two sons, Ravon Carron "Rip" Deems on March 19, 2011 and Wendell Lee Deems on October 19, 2012. He was also preceded in death by brothers: Raiford, Floyd and Coy Deems and by a sister, Agnes Bowers.
Survivors include his two daughters: Belinda Paris, Villa Rica and Connie Prince and her husband William, Douglasville; grandchildren: Beth Paris, Haden Prince, Avie Deems, Ricelyn Deems and Trace Mullinax; nephew Lynn Mullinax and wife April; sisters: Jewell Pendergraft, Iva Joyce Bowman, Sara Moates and Onita Lindsey; brothers: Alton Deems, Fain Deems and Michael "Mac" Deems; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 30, 2017 at 1:00 pm in the chapel of the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Jeff Hulsey officiating. Interment will follow in Arrington Chapel Cemetery, Piedmont, AL.
Pallbearers will include: Dink Wilkes, Avery Wilkes, Josh Wilkes, Trace Mullinax, Haden Prince and Brad Paris.
The family will receive friends Saturday from 12 noon until the service hour at the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home.
