Reno H. Cargle

June 16, 1920 — September 9, 2011

Mr. Reno H. Cargle, age 91, of Berryhill Road Rome, GA passed away at his residence on Friday, September 9, 2011.


He was born in Cedartown, GA on June 16, 1920 a son of the late William Hill Cargle and Bessie Miller Cargle. Mr. Cargle had lived the greater part of his life in Floyd County where he was a member of the Oak Hill Church of Christ and was a former employee of the Lindale and Primrose Textile Mills. He was a veteran of the United States Army having served in World War II. Mr. Cargle was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Cargle on November 18, 2003; by a step daughter Carolyn Hicks on March 13, 2011; by four brothers: Edward Cargle, Wilbur Cargle ,Melvin Cargle and William Ernest Cargle and a sister Mary Reeves.


Survivors include a son, Tim Cargle, Rome; a daughter, Doris Marie Maskevich, Fall Creek, Wisconsin; a step daughter, Sherry Jo Vaughn, Centre, AL; a step son, Kenneth E. Grissom, Cedar Bluff, AL; one sister, Gaynell Huckaby, Rome; three brothers: Daniel Cargle, Smyrna , Raymond Cargle, Smyrna and Marvin Cargle, Woodstock; a number of grandchildren and great grandchildren also survive.


Graveside funeral and interment services will be held Monday, September 12, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. in Oaknoll Memorial Gardens with Minister Joey Haynes officiating. The Honor Guard of Shanklin-Attaway Post # 5 of the American Legion will deliver Military Honors.


In lieu of flowers the family has requested memorial gifts be made to the Oak Hill Church of Christ, 1500 Martha Berry Blvd., Rome, GA 30165 to promote the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
