Robert B. (Bobby) White

Mr. Robert B. (Bobby) White, age 87, of Rockmart, GA passed away Sunday, July 7, 2013 at his residence.

He was born in Rockmart, GA on March 1, 1926 a son of the late Robert N. White and Eula Mae Ferguson White. Mr. White had lived all of his life in Rockmart where he was a graduate of Rockmart High School; was a member and Deacon of the New Prospect Baptist Church and had served as Chairman of the Deacon Board. He taught Sunday School for many years and helped direct the Childrens Church. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Army having served in World War II in the 124th U.S. Calvary, part of the Mars Task Force. Mr. White retired as General Manager of the Marquette Cement Company after 32 years of service. Following his retirement from the cement company he worked as an employee of the City of Rockmart. Mr. White loved to work in his yard growing beautiful flowers and always had a large garden sharing its bounty with family and friends.

In addition to his parents Mr. White was preceded in death by a sister, Hazel White and by two brothers: Gene White and Jere White.

Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Mrs. Mary B. White to whom he was married on June 2, 1946; two sons: Mr. Steve White and wife Gwen, Oxford, GA and Mr. Bert White and wife Becky, Rockmart; sister, Mrs. Sue Kellett, Union, SC; brother, Mr. Paul White and wife Joan, Cedartown; two sisters in law: Carolyn White, Rockmart and Martha White, Rockmart; four grandchildren: Captain Chad White, Ft. Hood, TX, Rhett White,Esq. and Melissa, Atlanta, Nikki and Brandon Tolbert, Rockmart and Kristen and Clark Dean, Rockmart; four great grandchildren: Rob White, Grace Tolbert, Lizzy Dean and Lexie Dean.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 10, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. in the New Prospect Baptist Church with Ryan Hale and Dr. Larry Davis officiating. Interment will follow in the New Prospect Baptist Church Cemetery with Brown-Wright Post # 12 of the American Legion in charge of military graveside rites.

Pallbearers will include: Chad White, Rhett White, Brandon Tolbert, Clark Dean, Mark Caffrey and Danny Hulsey. Honorary pallbearers will include the Deacons of New Prospect Baptist Church, Roy Cagle and former co-workers of Marquette Cement Company.

The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6 until 9 p.m. at the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home.

The Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements for the funeral of Mr. Robert B. (Bobby) White.
