Robert "Larry" Dunn

Mr. Robert “Larry” Dunn, age 72, of Rockmart, GA, passed away on Wednesday, December 7, 2022.

Mr. Dunn was born on September 27, 1950, in Rockmart, GA, to his late parents, Augustus Eugene and Mary Shephard Dunn. Larry was known by most as a humble, quiet man who only ever spoke a few words, and most often provided a listening ear. Larry retired from The Goodyear Aerospace Corporation where he most notably was part of The Ballute Project. After this he continued to work as an accomplished carpenter and took great pride in his craft. He was greatly respected by those in the building community and would take the time to teach his craft to those that wanted to learn. Larry was a lifelong member of Fairview Baptist Church in Rockmart, Ga. He loved hearing the musical talents of the choir. Mr. Dunn was a member of the Brotherhood at Fairview and looked forward to their special time of fellowship. Larry enjoyed spending time with his family most of all.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters: Marilyn Edwards and Janice Stephenson and a brother, Eddie Dunn.

Mr. Dunn is survived by his loving wife of forty years, Jane Dunn of Rockmart, GA; daughters: Summer Dunn of Rockmart, GA, and Megan Matthews (Josh) of Silver Creek, GA; grandchildren: Silas Robert and Mary Noelle; siblings: Alfred Dunn (Wanda) of Youngstown, FL, Jerry Dunn (Judy) of Rockmart, Joyce Williams, Rockmart and Edna Haney of Rockmart and his Italian son, Lorenzo Panico; special nephew, Wayne Dunn and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Mr. Robert Larry Dunn will be held on Saturday, December 10, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Fairview Baptist Church with Brother Kyle Camp and Rev. Clifton Brown officiating. Mr. Dunn will lie in state at the church on Saturday from 10:00 AM until the service hour at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery with Dr. Aaron Johnson in charge of graveside rites.

Pallbearers will include the following gentlemen: Wayne Dunn, Paul Dunn, Jr. Bollen, Josh Smith, Bobby Waldrop, Chris Buchanan, Bailey Dunn and Josh Matthews. Honorary pallbearers will include the following gentlemen: Randy Smith, Larry Hansard, John Graham, Sammy Bartley and members of Fairview Brotherhood.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, December 9, 2022 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully asks that memorial donations be made to The American Cancer Society, The Richard M. Schulze Hope Lodge in Atlanta, GA.

The family extends a special thank you to Dr. Kunal P. Patel, Harbin Clinic Pulmonary Medicine. His knowledge, compassion, and care has been invaluable. Dr. Patel never gave up in providing above and beyond care for Larry these last seven years. The Emory Healthcare system, and The ACS Hope Lodge, Atlanta.
