Robert Lee Hulsey

Mr. Robert Lee Hulsey, age 64, of 589 Vinson Mountain Road, Rockmart passed away Tuesday, October 27, 2009 at his residence following a lengthy illness.


He was born in Polk County on July 15, 1945 a son of the late Clarence Hulsey and Gertrude Baines Hulsey. Mr. Hulsey had lived all of his life in Rockmart where he was a member of the Fairview Baptist Church. He had worked for the Georgia Department of Transportation for 18 years and the Polk County Road Department for 15 years where he was an equipment operator. Mr. Hulsey was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Ann Goddard and by a brother, Sherman E. Hulsey.


Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Carolyn Hulsey, Rockmart to whom he was married on March 14, 1964; two daughters: Carol Tippett and her husband Jeff, Aragon and Bonnie Brewer, Aragon; two sons: Bobby Hulsey and wife Bobbie Jo, Rockmart and Jason Hulsey, Aragon; eleven grandchildren; two great grandchildren; one sister, Inez Spain, Rockmart; one brother, Sonny Hulsey, Rockmart and a number of nieces and nephews also survive.


Funeral services will be held Friday, October 30, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Charles Dyer, Rev. Larry Davis and Rev. Roger Parris officiating. Interment will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery.


Active pallbearers will include: Brent Coley, Scott Treadwell, Jimmy Purser, Wayne Purser, Robert Bowman and Ray Thompson. Honorary pallbearers will include: Billy Holland, Tony Hulsey, and Bruce Privett.


The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6 until 9 p.m. at the funeral home and at other hours may be contacted at the residence of a son, Jason Hulsey, 3347 Rome Highway Aragon, GA.
