Robert Oliver

Mr. Robert G. Oliver of Rockmart, GA passed away on Saturday, October 14, 2023 after a brief illness in a Douglasville medical facility at the age of 61.

Mr. Oliver was born on July 19, 1962 in Dallas, GA a son of the late Mr. Carl and Mrs. Edna Welch of Rockmart, GA.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by paternal grandparents Mr. & Mrs. Alfred G. Anderson, Pell City, AL and by Mr.Pete Coker, Dallas, GA and maternal grandparents Mr. & Mrs. Howard Kiker, Rockmart, GA; brother in law, Dr. David Byck, Savannah, GA and step son, Jason Womack.

Mr. Oliver was a longtime resident of Rockmart and attended Rockmart High School. Prior to becoming disabled Mr. Oliver was a resident of Dallas, GA for 18 years and was employed by Caraustar Industries in Austell, GA and a roofer for a family owned business. Mr. Oliver became disabled in 1990 due to injuries in a MVA and relocated to Rockmart in 2000. Mr. Oliver was an avid NASCAR race car fan and was a lifetime devoted fan of Bill Elliott. He was also a Georgia Bulldog fan. Mr. Oliver was of the Baptist faith and a member of the New Hope Baptist Church, Dallas, GA. He enjoyed puzzles, sports and his beloved canine companion “Pretty Girl”.

Mr. Oliver is survived by his sister, Dr. Peggy Byck, Savannah, brother, Mr. Joel (Shelia) Oliver, Rockmart and sister, Mrs. Pam (Joe) Hooper, Woodstock; aunt, Mrs. Sue Gill, Lexington, KY; former wife, Anita Wheeler, Dallas, GA and daughter, Keesha Wilkes; two granddaughters: Albrey and Alexia Argo. Several nieces, nephews; great nieces and great nephews and cousins survive.

Pallbearers will include: Joe Hooper, Glen Hooper, Donnie Coker and Lonnie Coker.

The family has requested that private funeral services be held.
