Ronald R. Daugherty

Mr. Ronald R. Daugherty, age 82, of Cedartown, passed away Friday, October 2, 2020.

He was born in Gadsden, AL on October 24, 1937, the son of the late C. N. Daugherty and Clara Gattis Daugherty. Mr. Daugherty was a member of the Cedartown Church of Christ where he had served as song leader for over 50 years. He worked on the railroad in his younger years before becoming manager of a finance company in Rockmart. He later was employed by First National Bank of Polk County as a Loan Officer. After retirement, Ronald became Caretaker of Hightower Falls Rod and Gun Club which gave him the opportunity of being outside in nature. He loved hunting and fishing in his spare time.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Bates Daugherty; a brother, Gary Daugherty; and a sister, Shirley Tanner.

Survivors include his daughter, Donna Nebel (Karl) of Cedartown; four grandchildren: Missy Garcia, Dr. Christopher Nebel (Michelle), Laura Ray (Scott), and Andrea Smith (Seth); five great-grandchildren: Ethan Garcia, Jonas, Suzannah and Abigail Nebel, and Greyson Smith. Several nieces and nephew also survive.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, October 4, 2020 at 4:00 pm in the chapel of Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Bro. Jerry Noblin and Bro. James Nelson officiating and prayers by Bro. Ed. Lee, Steven Mercer and Bro. Bill Lundy. Congregational singing will be led by Bro. Eddie Smith. A private interment will be held for Mr. Daugherty following the funeral service.

Pallbearers will include: Terry Sensing, Greg Carter, Doug Aaron, Spencer Lundy, Ricky Mathis and Carson Tanner..

The family of Mr. Daugherty will receive friends Sunday, October 4th from 2:00 PM until the funeral hour at Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial donations be made to the Cedartown Church of Christ, 326 East Avenue, Cedartown, GA 30125.
