Rose Caroline Butler Little

Mrs. Rose Caroline Butler Little, age 93, of Rockmart, GA, passed away on Tuesday, April 8, 2025.

Rose was born in Rome, GA, on January 11, 1932. Her parents were Cecil and Caroline Butler. She graduated from Rockmart High School and the University of Georgia. She attended Wesleyan College for two years prior to UGA. Rose married Howell Park Little, Jr., on September 19, 1953.

Rose was raised in Rockmart and loved her small town. After her marriage she lived in Commerce, GA, for 20 years. She made many life long friends there and was very happy. In 1972, Rose returned to live in Rockmart and began her teaching career as a third grade teacher under her mother as the principal. She loved Goodyear Elementary and all the teachers and students there. She was a beloved teacher to her students. One of her favorite memories and highest honors was being named Star Teacher by Nathan Taylor, nine years after he was in her third grade class.

Rose was a life long member of the First Methodist Church in Rockmart. She sang in the choir at the young age of 13. She sang in the Rockmart Community Chorus. Rose passed her love of music and sports to her children and grandchildren. She loved her family, friends and the Braves.

In addition to her parents, Rose was preceded in death by her husband, Howell P. Little, Jr. in 1990, and her son-in-law, Doyle Price in 2009.

Rose is survived by her four children, Hal Little (Denise), Carol Williams (David), Amelia Price, and Bob Little (Tonia); grandchildren, Dave Williams (Elizabeth), Scott Little (Kelly), Evan Williams (Lisa), Caroline Hipps (Justin), Anna Ownbey (Adam), Legare` Price (Krista), Ali Sellears (Randy), Seth Little, Mollie Little, and Megan Little; great-grandchildren, Cortney Sellears, Ariel Sellears, Drew Little, Jack Hipps, Taylor Little, Landyn Price, Emmy Hipps, Grace Williams, Briggs Sellears, Caynan and Everly Price, Cal Williams, Emma Cate Williams, Wes Williams, Penelope Ownbey, Oliver Ownbey, and August Ownbey. Rose is also survived by her beloved sister, Amelia Butler Mathis (Pat) of Clarksville, GA.

Funeral services for Rose will be held on Saturday, April 19, 2025, at 3:00 p.m. in the First Methodist Church. Pastors Jonathan Blackmon and Legare` Price will be officiating. Interment will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery.

Rose’s family will receive friends prior to the service. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until the service time of 3:00 p.m.

Pallbearers will include Rose’s grandsons, Dave and Evan Williams, Justin Hipps, Scott Little, Legare` Price, Seth Little, Randy Sellears and Adam Ownbey.

Honorary pallbearers will include the First Methodist Church Choir, the Rockmart Community Chorus, and the staff of The Spires Memory Care Facility in Rome.
