Ruby Baker Swan

Mrs. Ruby Baker Swan age 86, of Pearidge Road Rockmart passed away Friday, July 30, 2010 following several years of declining health.


She was born in Polk County, GA on May 6, 1924 a daughter of the late Jim and Rose Brown Baker. Mrs. Swan had lived all of her life in the Rockmart area and was of the Baptist faith. She was a former employee of the Aragon Mill and the Goodyear Mill. Mrs. Swan was preceded in death by her husband, James Edward Swan on July 28, 2007 and by a son, James Houston Swan on June 13, 2003.


Survivors include four sons: Thomas Swan, Dallas, GA, Steve Swan, Rockmart, Gary Swan, Rockmart and Bobby Baker, Calhoun, GA; seven grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren also survive.


Funeral services will be held Monday, August 2, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Sammy Hall officiating.

Interment will follow in the New Prospect Baptist Church Cemetery.


Pallbearers will include: Jamie Swan, Chuck Swan, Jody Swan, Steven Swan, Dennis Camp and Buddy Fincher.


The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 7 until 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
