Ruby Evelyn White

Mrs. Ruby Evelyn White, age 93, of Rockmart, GA passed away Thursday, May 14, 2015 in a Rome nursing center.

She was born in Cedartown, GA on February 27, 1922 daughter of the late Robert Ernest Blair and Lulu Bell Powell Blair. Mrs. White had lived all of her life in Polk County where she was a member of the New Prospect Baptist Church. She was a former employee of Nantucket Mills of Cartersville. Mrs. White was preceded in death by her husband, Henry W. (Bill) White on December 17, 2008 to whom she was married on March 18, 1944.

Survivors include two daughters: Judy Hughes and Kathy Bowman both of Rockmart; nine grandchildren, twenty four great grandchildren and ten great great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, May 17, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Owen (Bud) Davis and Rev. Billy Thomas officiating. Interment will follow in Polk Memory Gardens.

Pallbearers will include: Jamie Strickland, Joseph Jordan, Hank Coleman, Bill Coleman, Jimmy Blair and Adam Brinkley. Paul Rakestraw will serve as an honorary pallbearer.

The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 6 until 9 p.m. at the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home.
