Mr. Russell Lee Kellett, age 85 of Thomaston, GA passed away Tuesday, December 11, 2012.
Mr. Kellett was a native of Summerville GA, born on November 16, 1927 to the late John Henry Kellett and the late Carrie Cochran Kellett. He was a veteran of the United States Army having served during World War II. Mr. Kellett retired from Thomaston Mills in 1994 with 22 years of service. At the time of his retirement he was the manager of the Peerless Division and at one point in his career was manager of both the Peerless and the Griffin Divisions. He was a past general chairman of the Textile Operating Executives of Georgia.
Mr. Kellett was active in community affairs in both Thomaston and Upson County. He was a past chairman of the Empty Stocking Fund Raising Committee, past president of the Thomaston-Upson Chamber of Commerce , past president of the Thomaston Kiwanis Club and was a member of the American Legion. Mr. Kellett was a long-time member of the First Baptist Church where he served as a deacon, past president of the Brotherhood and was a member of the Board of Directors of the Foundation Committee. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mrs. Emily White Kellett.
Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Laura Ann ?Cricket? and Ken Latall of Atlanta; sons and daughters-in-law, Duane and Pam Kellett of Thomaston and David and Sandra Kellett of Athens; a brother and sister-in-law, Earl and Pam Kellett of Florida; four grandchildren, Bree Kellett (Wayne) and Ryan Kellett both of Thomaston, Maggie Kellett and Annie Kellett both of Athens; and three great-grandchildren, Dayne Lowry, Jackson Lee and Emilia Lowry.
Funeral graveside and interment services for Mr. Kellett will be held on Thursday, December 13th at 11:00 am in the New Prospect Baptist Church Cemetery of Rockmart.
The family will receive friends at Pasley-Fletcher Funeral Home of Thomaston on Wednesday, December 12th between the hours of 5 and 7 p.m.
