Ruth Coats

Mrs. Ruth Coats, age 73, of Bellview Road, Rockmart passed away Saturday, June 4, 2011 at her residence.


She was born in Haralson County, GA on October 21, 1937 daughter of William W. Williams and Mattie Robinson Williams but was raised in the Murphy-Harpst Home of Cedartown, GA. Mrs. Coats spent the greater part of her life in the Rockmart area where she was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by a son, James Anthony Coats in 1957, by her husband, Robert Donald Coats, Sr. in 2008 , by a granddaughter, Jamie Coats Cantrell in 2010, by two brothers: James Newton Williams and Richard Cecil Williams and by two sisters: Zada Myrtle Pyles and Francis Stanley.


Survivors include five children: Robert D. Coats, Jr. of Alabama, Randall Scott Coats, Rockmart, Christopher Lee Coats, Rockmart, Kenneth Bradley Coats, Rockmart and Charla Michelle Ray of Rydal; three sisters: Bertha Howse, Port Saint Lucie, FL , Pat Rodriguez, Temple and Daisy Jones, Tallapoosa; 14 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.


Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 7, 2011 at 4:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Moses Wilson, Rev. Danny Tucker and Mr. Randy Coats officiating. Interment will follow in the Bellview Baptist Church Cemetery.


Pallbearers will include: Dub Lamb, Hamish Lamb, Duran Mitchell, Leo Conring, Chase Summerville and Kevin Coats.


The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6 until 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
