Ruth Sanford

Mrs. Ruth Sanford, age 94, of 931 Old Cedartown Road, Rockmart passed away Sunday, October 12, 2008.


She was born in Polk County, GA on June 6, 1914 a daughter of the late James Marion Cason and Willie Lee Garrett Cason. Mrs. Sanford had lived all of her life in Polk County where she was a member of the Euharlee Baptist Church. She and her late husband farmed and were owners of J. H. Sanford Exterminating Company. She was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. James Hamilton (J.H.) Sanford on July 15, 1977 and by a daughter, Mrs. Vera Potts on March 1, 2004.


Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Imogene Wright, Rockmart; two sons: Mr. James Sanford, Rockmart and Mr. Ralph Sanford, Rockmart; one sister, Mrs. Leona Pilgrim, Rockmart; 8 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren also survive.


Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 15, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Royce Campbell and Rev. Ladell Jacobs officiating and a granddaughter, Judy Richardson delivering a eulogy. Interment will follow in the New Prospect Baptist Church Cemetery.


Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.


The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
