Sallie Louise Sorrells

Mrs. Sallie Louise Sorrells, age 88, of Rockmart, GA passed away Wednesday, May 29, 2013.

She was born in Bartow County, GA on January 20, 1925 a daughter of the late Homer Collum and Annie Mae Brewer Collum. Mrs. Sorrells had been a resident of Rockmart all of her life where she was a charter member of the Morning View Baptist Church. She retired from the Goodyear Mill of Rockmart where she had been employed for over 40 years. Mrs. Sorrells loved to quilt, work in her garden and with her flowers.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Edward Sorrells on January 25, 1995 to whom she was married on May 27, 1945; by three sisters: Catherine Garrett, Mary Lou Edwards and Ruby Deems and a brother, William F. (Son) Collum.

Survivors include a daughter, Paulette Jackson, Rockmart; a son, Keith Sorrells and his wife Andrea, Rockmart; a brother, James Collum, Aragon; four grandchildren: Michelle (Josh) McDowell, Shelly (Lucas) Culver, Julie (Danny) Sides and Mitchell (Heather) Jackson; eight great grandchildren: Luc, Jac and Paine Culver, Anna Claire and Ada Cate Sides, Aaron McDowell and Sydney and Ansley Jackson and a care giver, April Thompson.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 1, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. in the Morning View Baptist Church with Rev. Robert Wright and Rev. Owen (Bud) Davis officiating. Interment will follow in Polk Memory Gardens.

Pallbearers will include: Jerry Ferguson, Danny Ferguson, Eugene (Bean) Ferguson, Benny Sorrells, Stanley Garrett and Steve Collum. Honorary pallbearers will include: Ricky Sorrells, Billy Fincher and Johnny Garrett.

The family will receive friends Saturday morning from 10:00 a.m until 12:30 p.m. at the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home.

The Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home is in charge of arrarngements for the funeral of Mrs. Sallie Louise Sorrells.
