Sammy Oliver Poole

Mr. Sammy Oliver Poole, age 67, of Cedartown, GA passed away Tuesday, May 27, 2014.

He was born in Cedartown, GA on March 5, 1947, a son of the late Oliver Poole and the late Dorothy Holbrooks Poole. Mr. Poole had lived all of his life in Polk County growing up in the Youngs Grove community, graduating from Cedartown High School and was a member of Youngs Grove Baptist Church. He was a Veteran of the US Army and was retired from Lockheed-Martin after 22 years of service. After his retirement from Lockheed, he worked for Jefferson Southern in Rockmart. Mr. Poole loved to fish and spend time with his dog Dutchy.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, Larry Ray Poole and by his step daughter, Amanda Beatty.

Survivors include his wife, Brenda Poole, Cedartown; daughter, Crystal Parker, Taylorsville; two sons: Anthony Glenn Poole and Michael Lamar Poole, both of Leesburg, AL; step son, Jason Williams, Rockmart; sister, Kathy McCord, Cedartown; ten grandchildren; aunt and uncle, Lucy and John Dean, Cedartown.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 31, 2014 at 1:00 PM in the Chapel of the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Gary Diggs officiating. Interment will follow in the Youngs Grove Baptist Church Cemetery with Brown-Wright Post # 12 of the American Legion in charge of military graveside rites.

Pallbearers will include: Bubba Parker, J.C. McCord, Bobby Kersey, Donna Archer, Johnny Dean and Barry Smart.

The family will receive friends Friday evening from 7 until 9 PM at the funeral home.

The Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements for the funeral of Mr. Sammy Oliver Poole.
