Mrs. Sarah Grace McDonald, age 102, of Cedartown passed away peacefully on Monday, January 2, 2017 at her residence.
She was born in Rockmart, GA on October 14, 1914 a daughter of William Joseph Harrison and Darthula Waddle Harrison. Mrs. McDonald had lived all of her life in Polk County moving from Rockmart to Cedartown in 1946. She was the oldest living member of the Second Baptist Church of Cedartown and a member of the Friendship Bible Class. While her health permitted she enjoyed spending time at the Senior Citizens Center of Cedartown.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Edward McDonald; infant son Fred McDonald; daughter Carol McDonald; son Jerry McDonald and seven brothers and sisters.
Surviving are two daughters: Mrs. Anne Branch, Cedartown and Mrs. Linda Walley and her husband Chuck, Birmingham, AL; special daughter in law, Mrs. Marion McDonald, Cedartown; sister, Mrs. Virginia Tabb, Albany, GA; four grandsons; eleven great grandchildren ; four great great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 5, 2017 at 1:00 pm in the chapel of the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with her son in law, Mr. Chuck Walley officiating. Eulogies will be given by grandsons Craig and Ryan. Interment will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 12 noon until the service hour at the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home.
